Andrews & Kurth Expands Latin American Practice: Business Transactions Partner Doris Rodriguez Joins Firm
October 11, 2001HOUSTON -- Andrews & Kurth expands its Latin American business transactions practice with the addition of partner Doris Rodriguez. Rodriguez has practiced law in Houston for more than 20 years and is a member of the American, Texas, Houston, Hispanic and the Mexican-American Bar associations, and also serves as a director of the Texas-Mexico Bar Association.
The focus of her practice is domestic and international business transactions. Internationally, her experience is principally in Latin America in the areas of finance and business transactions including, project finance and privatizations. She has been involved with transactions on three continents and has handled multi-million dollar agreements for energy investment and banking, governmental, and other entities. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, being a native speaker of both languages and is bicultural. In her international practice, she has worked on matters in Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Columbia, Chile and Canada as well as several European countries. Additionally, she has been certified as an arbitrator and as a mediator.

Rodriguez received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1980. She was previously the head of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & McRae, L.L.P.'s Latin America Practice and Co-Managing partner of LeBoeuf's Houston office. She was previously with A&K in the Houston office from 1980-1998 and became partner with A&K in 1988, at which time she became the first Hispanic woman elected partner of a major Houston law firm.
