October 4, 2005

HOUSTON -- The results from the American Lawyer’s 2005 Midlevel Associates’ Survey are in and Andrews Kurth ranks 15th out of 160 national law firms. For the Dallas market, the firm’s office places second and the Houston office ranks sixth for the Houston area.

This year, Andrews Kurth advanced to 15th place from its 2004 ranking of 30th, making it the highest-ranked of all Texas-based firms.

Bennee Jones, co-chair of the firm’s Associates Committee, says, “We value our associates. Their future is our future.”

Kay Lynn Brumbaugh, Andrews Kurth’s Dallas Hiring Partner, says, “We make a concerted effort to ensure that we are responsive to our associates’ desires for interesting work, significant responsibility and open communication with partners.”

Selection criteria used to rank the firms included assessment of workload, hours and compensation, the firm’s culture, communication with partners and management, and opportunities. Eligible survey participants included third-, fourth-, and fifth-year associates (classes of 2000, 2001, and 2002). This year’s survey results are based on responses from 5,854 midlevel associates from 185 participating firms.
