Stuart Hollimon Joins Andrews Kurth

July 21, 2005

HOUSTON – Andrews Kurth announces the arrival of Stuart Hollimon, who joins the litigation section and who will be resident in the firm’s Houston and Dallas offices. Hollimon brings 30 years of oil and gas trial experience to the firm.

Hollimon is a former Chairman of the State Bar of Texas Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section and is a frequent author and speaker on oil and gas issues. His clientele is exclusively energy-based and includes several premier Texas-based oil and gas companies. His practice focuses on the upstream and midstream segments of the industry and includes representation of producers, processors and pipelines.

Hollimon says, "I'm delighted to be part of Andrews Kurth. Its extensive energy transaction practice is a perfect fit with my energy litigation practice and will enable me to offer my oil and gas clients a complete portfolio of legal services. In addition, as an experienced oil and gas litigator, the opportunity to enhance the firm's existing energy litigation practice is very exciting."

His recent litigation successes include obtaining a unanimous decision earlier this year from a three-person panel of arbitrators on behalf of a Houston-based producer in a multimillion-dollar operating agreement dispute involving the Alba Field situated offshore West Africa. Hollimon was also lessee’s counsel in the landmark oil and gas case of Sun Exploration and Production Company v. Jackson, which established that in Texas there is no implied obligation to explore an oil and gas lease.

"We are proud to have a lawyer of Stuart's caliber join our firm," says Rosemarie Donnelly, co-chair of the firm’s litigation section. "His experience and personal relationships within the energy industry are wonderful enhancements to our current practice. Stuart is just a great fit for us, both professionally and personally."

Hollimon received his law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law (1975, J.D.), where he served as Articles Editor of the Southwestern Law Journal, and his undergraduate degree from Saint Olaf College (1972, B.A., cum laude). He is admitted in Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Temporary Emergency Court of Appeals.
