Andrews Kurth Partner, Elizabeth Campbell, Named to National Diversity Council Board
November 27, 2007Houston, Texas
HOUSTON – Andrews Kurth LLP, partner and Chief Diversity Officer, Elizabeth A. Campbell, has been named to the Board of Directors of the National Diversity Council. The Council serves as an informational and educational resource for corporations seeking to strengthen their efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The non-profit organization also has five statewide chapters in Texas, California, Colorado, Florida and Illinois.
“Elizabeth is nationally recognized for implementing corporate diversity and inclusion strategies, and we’re pleased to have her further expand these efforts on behalf of our firm and the National Diversity Council,” said Bob Jewell, Andrews Kurth managing partner.
“Ms. Elizabeth Campbell has exemplified extraordinary and unfailing commitment to diversity and inclusion in both the workplace and business community. It is our privilege and honor to have her serve as a board member for the National Diversity Council” said Dennis Kennedy, CEO and founder of the Texas Diversity Council. “With her leadership and guidance, we are hoping to make a huge impact across our country.”
Campbell has more than 25 years of experience in administrative and employment litigation, both in law firm and in-house counsel settings, and has led human resources, employment relations and diversity strategies at large corporations. Before joining Andrews Kurth in February 2007, Campbell served as Vice President of Employment Relations and Corporate Diversity Officer for the ARAMARK Corporation in Philadelphia.
“Corporate executives are increasingly aware of the business imperatives for diversity and inclusion,” said Campbell. “A key is educating managers and employees about their respective organization’s goals for diversity and inclusion, and the many ways that success can be achieved and maintained. This education will ultimately lead to greater employee engagement and broader community involvement. I believe the Council can be a powerful force in furthering these efforts regionally and at the national level.”
Campbell earned her law degree from The University of Michigan Law School and earned her undergraduate degree from The American University in Washington, D.C. She is a frequent speaker and author on the topic of diversity and inclusion, and as Chief Diversity Officer devotes her efforts full-time to overseeing the diversity initiatives of Andrews Kurth.
