Through the years, Wiley has resolved through trial, arbitration, motion practice and settlement a wide variety of complex commercial disputes. He has considerable first-chair experience handling cases involving commercial fraud, contract disputes, franchise disputes, lender liability, insurance coverage, legal malpractice, securities, trademark infringement and unfair competition. Wiley was named as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly magazine in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Representative Experience

Wiley has served as lead counsel in a variety of recent litigation and counseling matters. He has represented such clients as:

  • a regional airline carrier in an arbitration against a major airline carrier over the interpretation of various aspects of the contracts governing the parties' relationship
  • one of the country's fastest growing software companies in a suit brought by one of its investors in Delaware Chancery Court
  • a publicly traded energy company in a Delaware Chancery Court trial over a failed merger with another publicly traded energy company
  • an international property and casualty company as national counsel in connection with the cancellation of a nationwide insurance program
  • the State of Texas in connection with the merger of two of the settling defendants in the State's tobacco litigation
  • audit committees of the boards of publicly traded companies in connection with investigations of alleged accounting errors and other allegations of wrongdoing
  • securities product providers, broker-dealers and/or registered representatives in NASD arbitrations over matters such as suitability of securities products, securities sales and terminations of registered representative agreements
  • a national franchisor that faced fraud and unfair competition claims from several of its franchisees
  • a Fortune 100 software company that sued the perpetrators of a fraudulent scheme that reached across the country
  • a law firm accused of negligently structuring the tax aspects of a complex business transaction
  • a fronting insurance company in connection with the placement of $80 million of reinsurance
