Project Finance International Awards 2006: Bond Deal of the Year - Sabine Pass. The US $2.03 billion bond offering for Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG project was significant as the largest high-yield project financing ever done for a single asset. The deal overcame construction risk, a limited history, and no positive cashflows predicted until 2008. Credit Suisse led the deal. The financing took out not only US $1.5 billion in project debt, but also a restrictive Term B deal that prevented distributions to the parent. Cheniere needed to get to that cash to finance its marketing activities and secure long-term contracts for LNG supply.

Andrews Kurth moved up on the charts to the top 10 law firms nationwide as Underwriter's Counsel for municipal bonds as noted in the 2004 American Lawyer Corporate Scorecard.
The Bond Buyer announced that Andrews Kurth has moved up from 48 to number 3 after serving as disclosure counsel on Houston's $3 billion combined utility system revenue refunding issue. For the first six months of 2004, the firm served on seven deals totaling just slightly over $2 billion.
